World War II Series I, U.S.A.A.F. Bombers August 1, 1943, B-24 Liberators bomb the oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania

The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was an American heavy bomber with a Davis Wing giving this airplane not only a high cruise speed, but long-range capability to carry heavy loads. The B-24 was used extensively in World War II and due to its range, proved useful in bombing operations in the Pacific and was most notably the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic Ocean as a matter of routine.
